On this year's CeBIT I saw quite an impressive demonstration of an attack against a smartcard based on peaks in its power consumption. It was possible to break a secret 16 byte AES key stored on the smartcard in about 10 minutes just by encrypting data and monitoring the power consumption. So what I'm interested in: Are there any hardware or software countermeasures against this kind of attack implemented in the BasicCard? Christian
